WiFiRanger: WFRControl Pairing and Troubleshooting

WiFiRanger: WFRControl Pairing and Troubleshooting

WFRControl is a powerful feature that lets you manage an outdoor WiFiRanger router directly from your indoor unit, creating a seamless and extended network. If you encounter any difficulties during setup or experience connectivity issues, this guide will assist you in troubleshooting and resolving common problems.

Pairing Process

  1. Correct Pairing Port: Connect the outdoor router's Ethernet cable to the designated pairing port on the indoor router. This enables automatic pairing.
    1. Spruce - Port 5
    2. Polpar - Port 1
    3. Aspen - Port 1
  2. Firmware Compatibility: Both routers must run the same firmware version for optimal WFRControl functionality. Refer to the provided table to confirm firmware lock for your specific router models.
  3. Access Control Panel: Connect to the indoor router's network and open its Control Panel by entering mywifiranger.com in your web browser.
  4. Configure WFRControl:
    • Connect to each router separately and make sure the WFRControl Internet Connector is enabled in the setup tab.
  5. Establish Connection:
    • Power on the outdoor router and wait for it to connect to the indoor router.
    • On the indoor router's Control Panel, go to the "Setup" tab, select the Gear icon on for the WFRControl line. When properly paired it will have a Status of Configured.

Troubleshooting Tips

If you experience difficulties pairing or maintaining a stable connection, try the following:

  • Verify Firmware: Ensure both routers are running the same, compatible firmware version.
  • Factory Reset: If pairing fails, perform a factory reset on both routers individually. Connect to each router separately, reset it, and reboot before attempting to pair again.
  • Check Connections & Power: Confirm that all Ethernet cables are securely connected and both routers are receiving power.
  • Contact Support: If the issue persists, submit a Support Ticket for further assistance.

By following these instructions and troubleshooting tips, you should be able to successfully set up and maintain a stable WFRControl connection between your indoor and outdoor WiFiRanger routers. Remember to consult the full WFRControl Pairing & Troubleshooting Guide for additional information and support.
