WiFiRanger: Node 500 Recovery

WiFiRanger: Node 500 Recovery

Use of the physical reset button may result in a node 500 issue. This will be noticible based on the SSID being broadcast by your WiFiRanger device. Units with this issue will broadcast an SSID in the following format: PVT.WFR_Model.5000. Follow these steps to recover your device:

Recovery Process

  1. Connect to the WiFiRanger:

    • Connect your computer or device to the WiFiRanger's network. The network name (SSID) will be:
      • Broadcast: Pvt.WFR_Model.5000
      • Password: changemenow5000
  2. Open Web Browser:

    • Open a web browser (Chrome, Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, etc.).
  3. Enter Address:

  4. Wait for Control Panel:

    • Wait for the WiFiRanger Control Panel to load.
  5. Connect to Internet:

    • Connect the WiFiRanger to an internet source (cellular, Wi-Fi WAN, etc.).
  6. Check for Updates:

    • Click on "Check for Updates / Cloud Disconnected" at the top right of the Control Panel.
  7. Wait:

    • Wait for 1-2 minutes for the update process to complete.
  8. Check WiFi Networks:

    • On your computer or device, check the list of available WiFi networks.
    • Look for a network named "DONE-XXXXXX" (the Xs will be replaced with numbers). This indicates the recovery process is complete.
  9. Reboot WiFiRanger:

    • Reboot the WiFiRanger.
  10. Connect to Original Network:

    • Connect to the WiFiRanger using its original network name and password (found on the product label).

Important Note:

  • Do not use the physical reset button on an indoor WiFiRanger router. This may cause a Node 500 issue.

If you continue to experience issues after following these steps, contact WiFiRanger support for further assistance.
